Promoted! (Game 6: Nottm Forest)

Yeeees. Finally. The sweet taste of succes. I chose to manage Forest (I love sleeping giants), to try out Kjelltr’s system. The system is basically a defensive 4-4-2 but a very solid one. Look at my stats. I only scored 1.3 goals per game (previous games were 1.9, 1.2, 1.1, 1.9 and 2.0 – my stats here), but my defense was rock solid only allowing 0.9 goals per game (previous games I allowed 1.4, 1.2, 1.1, 1.3 and 1.6 – again from the stats page). This my first season with an average number of conceded goals lower than 1.

I usually let my assistant manager do the team talking at half time, but since I did not have an assistant, I did it myself during the whole season. I always tell the players that they can win before the match, and at half time I tell them not to get careless or repeating that they can win. This works, as there was no end of season slump as is sometimes the case.

I had decent wingers and used 2 DM’s to cover the central midfield positions. This worked pretty good, but I guess you could also play with 1 AMC and 1 MC/DMC.

Of all the many systems I have tried, this is the most consistent and it can be used with pretty much any team. If you do play with Chelsea and other top teams, there are probably better systems, but for mid table and lower league teams, this system is really one that I would recommend.
